Comic, Art, and Yaoi Links

Here are my picks for some awesome art, comic, or yaoi sites:

Kinu Sekigushi: Kinu's artwork is pretty well known. It's been featured on Fridae's comic section as well as on his own website. I actually saw a postcard collection at a bookstore, so you can guess Kinu's work has a good marketing base.

Tak Toyoshima: I initially found Tak Toyoshima's comic strip on AsianWeek. It's a series called, "Secret Asian Man", which details his reminiscing and self-analysis of growing up as a Japanese American in a predominantly white and Chinese community. I think I like the social commentary that he makes more than the art, which is a sign that there's more substance than flair. If you are into the self-depricating humor with a pop (art) cultural twist, then give his comics a quick glance. Tak is also the art director for a local Boston newspaper called the WeeklyDig. You can check out a full collection of "Secret Asian Man" at IMDiversity.com.

Jo Chen: You'll find very cool CG art at Jo Chen's website. She's very talented and it seems that she has published several graphic novels. Definitely worth a look if you are into her style: realistic, sexy characters with the greatest facial expressions.

Nakata: Yaoi fans will rejoice for Nakata's art. It's your classic chibi anime style. Nakata pretty much draws his characters to look like himself. You can check out his self-pic and you'll see the similarity. The entire site is in Japanese, so if you don't understand Japanese, then your first stop should be his galleries. You will find two galleries: one for his yaoi art and another for his fanart, which is mostly drawing of characters from the  Sailor Moon series.

Sorin Knapp: The Odd Sea is a Yahoo Group that is moderated by Sorin Knapp. You may recognize his artwork from his old website called TheCheeseFactory. Sorin does both male and female characters from comics, video games, and original characters. He's definitely one of my favorites, so check out his group for all the pics that he's ever drawn. He take requests on a limited basis, so join his group and suggest a character that you would like to see.

Massive Destruction: MassiveD was (and probably still is) one of the web's most famous yaoi artists. His site had so many visitors between 1999 and 2000. He stopped updating his site, but you can still see his most of his collection since the transfer to bastardgenres.com. Unfortunately there are a lot of broken links, so be patient. You'll find yaoi pics of nearly every character you can think of from Pokemon, Gundam, to DragonBallZ. Take a look, also check out the link section for more yaoi sites.

Jax Bordeau: Jax's original site had mostly Pokemon and Yiffy art on it. On his new site, you'll find a good collection of TriGun pics, including his Yiffy Art. In case you don't know what Yiffy art is, then you should check out www.furnation.com . Jax is a goth, so don't expect any cheery, happy-go-lucky themed materials to show up on his site. Apparently he also loves to take those internet personality quizzes. Go figure.

Joe Phillips: I guess any yaoi/art section wouldn't be complete without a link to Joe Phillip's website. Yes, you have seen his JoeBoys plastered everywhere. His art is even the official coverart for a brand of underwear. His characters are definitely a big commercial success. He even made his first pornographic animated feature film called House of Morecock. Of course, one of his beginning steps to fame all started in the comics that he had done for XY. I'm pretty sure that why you have all those gay boys screaming for more JoeBoys. Besides the JoeBoys, you will also be impressed with the great web interface and layout.
